Huckerby on the ball as trust raises thousands for Norfolk people

Fundraising for the Darren Huckerby Trust kicked off over the weekend with a fun Golf Day followed by a glittering, star-studded Black-Tie Ball, the combined efforts of which raised more than £17,000.

A host of former Norwich City players joined 22 teams from across the county in support of the Darren Huckerby Trust on Friday for a very special golf day, kindly sponsored by Constitution Motors. With plenty of golfing talent on show, Hucks' was keen to show off his impressive driving abilities... on the refreshment buggy, but the real winners were the local charities and individuals that stand to benefit such as ‘Cots for Tots’ and the ‘Norfolk Association for the Disabled.'

Over 200 guests rubbed shoulders and danced the night away with the likes of Dion Dublin, Dickson Etuhu, Jason Shackell and Dean Ashton as the inaugural Darren Huckerby Trust Ball rocked at Dunston Hall. Guests were treated to an entertainment-packed evening that also included Bryan Gunn auctioning some amazing sporting memorabilia, including Darren’s right boot from his very last game for Norwich, and a fascinating heart-to-heart interview with Kevin Piper about Hucks’ ambitions for his new Trust.

When asked about the weekend of activities Hucks said; "I continue to be humbled and genuinely touched by the generosity of the Norfolk people, thank you." Darren continues; "This is start of something big for Norfolk, something that will grow and grow over years to come and I can promise the people of Norfolk that 100% of every pound donated will go directly towards supporting charities and individuals in Norfolk that really need our help."

The next big campaign for the Trust is 'Hucks' Christmas Gift Appeal' which will see Darren (and Santa of course!) deliver some really great presents and lots of Christmas cheer to the children's wards at the Norfolk & Norwich Hospital. Darren is keen to talk to local businesses that could help with sourcing a wide range of children's presents, as well as appealing to the real Father Christmas to step forwards and volunteer his services for this event. 2011 events on the agenda are a Spring fashion show, Summer Ball and the launch of Hucks' Champions.
